Whatcha Whatcha Whatcha Want?
Ok, I have finally finished the post about my trip to Patagonia, and there hasn’t been much time for anything else in between. I want to start getting up some shorter posts about Buenos Aires and Argentina on a more regular basis. I have several topics to get started on, some of which I have been planning to post about for quite some time. So, I am going to start posting them now. However, since I am such a nice fellow and since I want to please my adoring and supportive fans, I would like to know if there is anything specific I can post in order to satisfy your curiosities about me, my life here, the people, the city or anything else that might come to mind. Don’t be afraid! You can post your ideas or questions as comments to this post or you can send me an email, however you would like to do it. My email address can be found on the contact page.
Have you fallen in love yet?? Just want to make sure I don’t need to start learning Spanish to talk to my future daughter-in-law!

The recent pictures were awesome. Looks like you were able to clear up the unfocused areas you had on some of the earlier ones. How did you fix it?? Booger on the lens or what??

I really enjoy all of your pictures. I am curious about the people. Do you find that they are friendly? Are they helpful during your travels? I am also curious about the local cuisine. Are you being adverturous? How are your classes? How does the university compare to the states? I will have more questions soon. Hope all is well. Have fun!!!!

Great questions! I have had a lot of questions asking about the people here so I will get right on that. I have several posts ont he food coming up. As for being adventurous, does traveling to the end of the world count?
I will write more about the University and the classes too. Thanks for the questions.

Hey D….How are you deciding what trips to take? Did you research and map it all out before you went or are you figuring it out as you go? I can’t imagine how hard it must be to decide which excursion to go on next. Keep it up. Not only are your pictures beautiful, I can hear your voice and your laugh in your writings. It makes it seem like you’re not so far away. Love you!

Well, even before I got to Argentina I had some ideas about where I wanted to go. When I got here I just arranged transportation to those places and winged it from there. I have realized two of the trips I had hoped to take already and I have one more short one coming up this weekend. After that, I’m afraid I won’t be able to afford much more traveling, so it won’t be a problem choosing where to go next!

What about school and your class time? Are you speaking much English or pretty much the language of the country and do you think it is making a big difference being emersed in the culture and language? I, too, would like to see some pics of the people and the local happenings, not that I don’t love, LoVe, LOVE what you have posted already. You are an amazing photographer and story teller…….feels like I’ve been right beside you on every adventure thus far. hey dude, is the spanish that is being spoken down your way the spanish you know…or are you running into dialects and off brand stuff? plus, are you meeting any resistance from the locals because you are a foreigner? have fun…
April 25, 2012 at 3:06 pm
The spanish here is probably one of the most unique dialects in the world. Even some of my Mexican friends say they have trouble understanding the Argentinians. I would do a post about the differences, but few would understand them so I will just say that, without a doubt; the Spanish (they call it Castellano) is different here. They have different words for a LOT of things and, of course, the slang is unique to the area. Argentinians, specifically the Porteños that live in the Capital, are famous for their slang, which is called Lunfardo and entered the world from the mouths of tango dancers, prostitutes, and thieves and now continues to develop with the youth of Buenos Aires. Being a foreigener can be a doublel edged sword. With some people (females, ahem) it can garner extra attention of the positve type. With others, it can be an excuse to be taken advantage of, tricked, or made fun of. That being said, I have not run into any problems because of the fact that I am a yanqui. Hope you are well…Thanks!!
